Description

After Cherlya Tonge was diagnosed with cervical cancer, she found support from other cancer patients and survivors both in an online community and at the Hope Lodge, a housing facility of the American Cancer Society. This community rallied around her when Tonge's daughter, granddaughter and daughter's boyfriend were killed in a car accident while Tonge was in the middle of chemotherapy treatment. Their support spurred Tonge to find ways to give back herself.
